Periods, Nothing To Be Ashamed About – Richa Chadda

Talented and progressive actress Richa Chadda was spotted at the music launch of her forthcoming political drama Daas Dev music launch. During her media interaction the actress expressed her thoughts on Padman Challenge and periods are nothing to be ashamed about.
“I will post my picture with Pad on social media. There is nothing to be ashamed about when it comes to periods. Those people are just trying to spread awareness about it. If people get the message that it is okay and not taboo, it will be good” said Richa Chadda.
Padman based on Entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who made low-cost sanitary pads for the women of his village, began the #PadManchallenge on social media and tagged Akshay Kumar. For the challenge, the celebs posed for a picture with a sanitary napkin and posted it on their social media profiles and tagged others to take up the challenge.
Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra also spoke about the Padman premise, which is quite interesting. He said, “Padman highlights an issue, which is quite interesting and they are bringing the issue forward, which people don’t like to talk about. When people go to medical shop for buy sanitary pads, they wrap it and give it you, as if it is such a bad and horrible thing, and we should be ashamed of it. If this movie removes the taboo about it, I think it is good and fantastic, it is about time”
Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, who has shared screen space with Akshay Kumar before also praised the gallant efforts of the Padman team. He said, “When we talk about social taboos, it is a very progressive thing about the society because people start to come out and talk about it. Padman Challenge, which is going on, people are coming out and talking about themselves. When people talk about Taboo, understand that it is truth and people are talking about something which is really difficult to talk about. And I think that is very welcoming change in our society”
Padman is R Balki directorial starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. The movie opens in theater on 9th Feb 2018.
